Bob Seger: Turn The Page (1972)

Comments

Wait til you find the Looney Tunes episodes!
Seger is basically all I watch on YouTube. Check out some of the new stuff from this year's tour. Amazing - the man still has got IT
YouTube is evil.
Stephel: The Looney Tunes! I think I've seen every one of those about 50 million times each. That's what we grew up on. Sorry, hon, but I think I'll pass that section right on by. Lol. They're just as silly as ever and that's why they are still popular, but I think my brain would explode if I saw Bugs Bunny one more time! Hee hee. No offense, Bugsy.

LQ: I always enjoyed Bob Seger's voice, and I enjoyed that many times he told stories in the form of song....rather than just throwing together some words to fit a tune or whatever. I "love" stories in songs!

My daughter and I were in a store not too long ago, and music was piping over the speakers. I stopped and said, "That's Bob Seger!". It was a song I had never heard before. And she told me it was not! Lol. That was Three Doors Down. Well....I just had to let her know that I can recognize Bob Seger's voice...it's very distinctive....and that was who was singing. And, of course, we were both right. Seger did a guest song with Three Doors Down....although my daughter thought that he was a regular of the group. It's the same as when Rob Thomas did that guest song with Santana....Smooth. What an incredible hit that was! I hadn't even heard of Matchbox 20 before that...just not my era. But Santana I knew. And I loved their collaboration. Fantastic stuff.

Doesn't Bob Seger look good now? At least in that video I posted. All grown up, and hopefully has realized what is important in this life. Rather like Aerosmith blowing all their money on drugs when they were young and enjoying stardom to the max. And then....all the money was gone. But they were given a second chance, came back sounding just as great as they used to, and not one member is even ALLOWED to touch drugs. It destroyed them the first time around, and now they are all grown up and know what is important in this world. And I'm sure Steven Tyler wants to impress upon his daughter, Liv Tyler, the pitfalls she could face while she's in the entertainment industry.

Hmmmm.....started talking about Bob Seger and ended with Aerosmith. Whacky brain at 3:00am, I guess. Lol.

Paxton: I have to agree. (Astonished intake of breath). YouTube is evil....at least for me. Want to know why? Well, I'm going to tell you anyways. Lol. Because I still live in the dinosaur age of dial-up, and I just can't wait that long for clips to load. Evil....just evil, I say. So on Monday, I'm phoning my ISP and going broadband. Not just because of YouTube (lol), but there are just soooooo many things I can't watch or do because my beautiful system is running off the phone line. Argh. I never thought I'd even want High Speed. But I'm getting tired of waiting an hour for something (that might turn out to be junk and I delete it), while other people are downloading it in 5 minutes. Evil, evil You Tube. Lol. Now I have to start messing with operators and installation men and new types of billing, etc, etc. Evil YouTube!!! *big grin*
Oh the upgrade to broadband is so freaking great. I was on dial-up for four years. There is a whole new world out there. Enjoy!
[this is good]
Turn the Page. God I love this song. Thanks
SweetMisery: Honey, you're getting me excited....and honestly, I'm not a morning person. Lol!!! I was always perfectly content with dial-up, but I'm sure it's going the way of the Beta Player...and even the VCR. Pretty soon there won't be anyone offering dial-up service because most everything on the internet these days require Broadband. I'm still happy with email, but now I really want to play. I didn't realize I was missing out on all the fun! Is it Monday yet? Is it Monday yet?? I want to make an appointment, please. And lucky for me, this particular apartment has already been set up for High Speed. Whoever lived here once before had all the installation done, so I won't have to pay for that. Yippee!!!
SweetMisery: You again!! Lol! Yes, Bob Seger has a very distinctive voice, and I've always enjoyed MOST of his songs. But this was always my favorite of his songs. The other songs just never compared. I'm not sure if he wrote it himself (it would be easy enough to find out, but I'm too lazy for that right now), but it certainly sounds like he is expressing HIS feelings and HIS experiences. I'm sure he was the author. Regardless, it gives us a glimpse into what his "stardom" life was like, and he agreed to paying and singing this song if he's not the author. But I really think he DID write it. And I just love his voice. Is this your favorite Seger song as well?
[this is good]
Yeah baby!! This is it. I can feel this. My story told again. Thank you for this jewel.
Eh, it's all good. I Love Lucy is another one that there should be lots of!

Bycha: Hi, honey. I'm so glad to hear from you! And I'm thrilled that, upon looking in my Blog, you found something that got you excited and brought back memories. You always make me smile! Don't forget what I told you about smiling. "Yeah baby" right back at you!! God bless.

Stephel: I Love Lucy?? How old do you think I am? Lol!!!!! I've watched it on Nick at Night when I lived in the US, but...ummm....I'm only 42 years old. I know, probably ancient to you. *gwaf, snort* Actually, I'm looking forward to seeing the old music videos that I grew up with. Sometimes it's rather pleasant to return to another time in your life that is done and over with now, replaced by new memories and a different lifestyle. You get a chance to forget some unpleasant "recent" memories and go back in time to your teens or 20's. Just for the length of a song, it's nice to return to a different world....the world of our youth and all that it encompassed. And maybe that feeling lingers for a little while after the song has ended. It's a jumpstart to the soul....sometimes we need to remember where we came from. Am I making any sense at all?
Rocket 101 in Erie, Pennsylvania, my hometown, used to play this song all the time. It's one of my favorite Seger tunes. But I think Metallica's cover of this song is even better.
