I am in complete trouble because I've found another addiction. I knew about YouTube, but had never visited the site. I thought it was *mainly* just homemade little videos, with a few television episodes thrown in. But since going on and getting the one-minute clip concerning the Halifax Explosion, I've discovered that there is music and all sorts of other items that are not homemade junk. And so now I'm excited and want to look around and see what I can find.
One item I looked for was an old Bob Seger song entitled, Turn the Page. I used to love it. The brain is an amazing "tool" in that I was able to sing right along with the words of this song that I haven't heard in years! The video is quite interesting because it has been made fairly recently (Bob and his short hair), as opposed to the old footage that is shown in the video of his long hair and lifestyle.
Lyrics:
On a long and lonesome highway, east of Omaha.
You can listen to the engine moaning out its one lone song
You can think about woman, or the girl you knew the night before,
But your thoughts will soon be wandering, the way they always do.
When your riding sixteen hours and there's nothing much to do
And you don't feel much like riding, you just wish the trip was through. Hmmmmmm,
Say, here I am, on the road again.
There I am, up on the stage.
Here I go, playing star again,
There I go, turn the page.
Well you walk into a restaurant, strung out from the road,
You can feel the eyes upon you as you're shaking off the cold,
You pretend it doesn't bother you, but you just want to explode.
Most times you can't a hear 'em talk, other times you can,
All the same old cliches, "is that woman or a man?"
You always seem outnumbered, you don't dare make a stand.
Here I am, on the road again.
There I am, up on the stage.
Here I go, playing the star again.
There I go, turn the page.
Out there in the spotlight you're a million miles away,
Every ounce of energy, you try and give away,
As the sweat pours out your body like the music that you play.
Later in the evening as you lie awake in bed,
With the echoes from the amplifiers ringin' in your head,
You smoke the day's last cigarette, rememberin' what she said.
Now here I am, on the road again.
There I am, up on the stage.
Here I go, playing star again.
There I go, turn the page.
Here I am, on the road again.
There I am, up on the stage.
Ah here I go, playing star again.
There I go, there I go.

LQ: I always enjoyed Bob Seger's voice, and I enjoyed that many times he told stories in the form of song....rather than just throwing together some words to fit a tune or whatever. I "love" stories in songs!
My daughter and I were in a store not too long ago, and music was piping over the speakers. I stopped and said, "That's Bob Seger!". It was a song I had never heard before. And she told me it was not! Lol. That was Three Doors Down. Well....I just had to let her know that I can recognize Bob Seger's voice...it's very distinctive....and that was who was singing. And, of course, we were both right. Seger did a guest song with Three Doors Down....although my daughter thought that he was a regular of the group. It's the same as when Rob Thomas did that guest song with Santana....Smooth. What an incredible hit that was! I hadn't even heard of Matchbox 20 before that...just not my era. But Santana I knew. And I loved their collaboration. Fantastic stuff.
Doesn't Bob Seger look good now? At least in that video I posted. All grown up, and hopefully has realized what is important in this life. Rather like Aerosmith blowing all their money on drugs when they were young and enjoying stardom to the max. And then....all the money was gone. But they were given a second chance, came back sounding just as great as they used to, and not one member is even ALLOWED to touch drugs. It destroyed them the first time around, and now they are all grown up and know what is important in this world. And I'm sure Steven Tyler wants to impress upon his daughter, Liv Tyler, the pitfalls she could face while she's in the entertainment industry.
Hmmmm.....started talking about Bob Seger and ended with Aerosmith. Whacky brain at 3:00am, I guess. Lol.
Bycha: Hi, honey. I'm so glad to hear from you! And I'm thrilled that, upon looking in my Blog, you found something that got you excited and brought back memories. You always make me smile! Don't forget what I told you about smiling. "Yeah baby" right back at you!! God bless.
